“I Gotta Get It”: Striving for Our Aspirations

“Gotta Get It”

When you hear this phrase, what does it mean for you? Does it mean to get a newly released frappuccino at Starbucks after work? Or, working hard towards your dream so you can get what you desire? For me, I have a lot of thoughts and aspirations. My short-term goal is to study hard for the Japanese Business exam I have to take in November and passing that. And then, one of the long-term goals is figuring out what I want to do next year (and life). Do I want to be a teacher or do I want to change careers and go into a Japanese speaking environment? Or do I want to do something else in life?

Whether it is achieving short-term or long-term goals, we had those moments where we have to get it. But how about others? What do the others that surround us want?

What Song Inspires You To Get Energize?

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

(Disclaimer: This post is not an affiliation post. It’s just me talking about an app I like.)

It’s the afternoon. You glance at the clock and groan: It’s only 2 pm. You have three more hours till you clock out from your daily 9-5 job. But, you are tired from that after-lunch fatigue. You ponder, should you eat sweets (the sugar can energize you) or make a cup of coffee? Although these choices sound like a nice idea, they might not be the best one.

Image and video hosting by TinyPicI have recently been using an app called The Fabulous. I have been using it for two weeks already and enjoy it so far. Fabulous is designed for the user to do a variety of goals during the day. From the moment when you wake up to the second before you drift into dreamland, there is some sort of activity that you have to do. Doing these activities will help create a better you. Some of the tasks are drinking water and eating healthy yet meaningful meals. One of the actions is exercising throughout the day. This is something I think that I’m not good at. I cannot run (I hate running actually) and I don’t have room in my tiny apartment for big equipment.

I was in a pickle: What would be the right exercise for me?

Experiencing Healthy Insanity: “Go Insane” by Lindsey Buckingham

Many legendary musicians have had excellent albums in today’s modern world. In this age, many would know of the pop-rock band Fleetwood Mac that rose to fame in the late 70s. Some knew the band since their formation in the late 60s. Some, like myself, grew up listening to the band’s songs thanks to their parents playing the songs on the car radio. Recently, a whole new generation was introduced to Fleetwood Mac when the Marvel film Garden of the Galaxy II included their hit song “The Chain” on the movie’s soundtrack. Thanks to Marvel, a new generation would at least know one song from this legendary band.

If I would conduct a poll on the streets of America and ask the question “Who is in Fleetwood Mac?”, many would answer Stevie Nicks. But, how about the other members? Stevie Nicks did have a prolific solo career in the 80s. But what about the other members, do they too have a successful and well-off solo career?

Happy September readers!

I want to thank those who have visited my blog so far! I had over 1,600 views in August, more than July, and I am thrilled. Sometimes, I feel guilty for having a music blog because I write content for only one genre. I don’t write about not multiple genres as I see with many other blogs. I could write about lifestyle and travel, but my real passion is music. I want to stick with music (and maybe other entertainment) for now. I will continue to work hard to provide new musical experiences for my viewers.

I write about past and forgotten releases on this blog. But, I also want to feature more about music that is new and upcoming. Especially from bands and artists that are indies or just starting. I am continuing that trend with a band from Scotland named Foggy City Orphan.

Do You Remember the Early 90s? This Song Will Help You to Remember!

Last week, I had no work! Nine days of freedom and do whatever my heart desired. Well, my heart got what it wanted: sleep, watching dramas, reading, writing, and listening to music nonstop. It was glorious to be able to freely listen to music at any time of the day. There was even a different genre expressing the mood of each hour: dancing at noon with Eurobeat, experiencing the bareness and beauty of the sunrise with Toshinobu Kubota, and feeling the crisp late summer air with smooth jazz. Music makes life wonderful.

During this week-long vacation, I found a new earworm that was so addictive. I listened to this piece nonstop every day during my time-off. I also tried to perfect the dance moves and sing the lyrics.

For this blog post, we have to go back twenty years when this song was hip and cool. That decade was…

The Raw and Powerful Emotions Behind “Pause, Rewind” and “All We Were” by Arcadia Sun and How Can You Relate to Them

Ever since I was little,  I have been influenced by many musical genres. My mom always listened to songs from different eras and various genre in the car or the house. Also, TV programs, the radio, and even going to the mall let me discover new acts and love new ones. Many people think I am a mainly Japanese pop person, but I genuinely love all genres, especially rock.

I was given the opportunity to listen to two songs by Alternative rock band Arcadia Sun from Liverpool, England. The experience of listening to these two songs are powerful with emotions deeply embroidered in every note and word.

Remembering the Queen of Soul

Late last night Japan time, the world experienced the passing of a musical legend. Even before I was born, this legend was a staple of American popular music. In the 20th century and 21st century, you always heard one of her songs anywhere you went: on the TV, on the radio, and in the supermarket. She has been and still will be in the hearts of many. This legend is…

Aretha Franklin.
