A Musical Metal Battery for National Battery Day

According to Cathy, today is National Battery Day. I didn’t know there was such a day! I searched online to find out what it is about. What I found that, according to the National Day Calendar, it is a day “to appreciate the convenience batteries provide to our everyday lives.” It is a great day to check your fire alarm batteries to see if they are working as well as your emergency supplies like battery-powered radios and flashlights. I know my smoke alarm works, I accidentally set it off some months ago when I used powerful chemicals to kill a bug on the ceiling. I wasn’t harmed (the chemical spray is used to paralyze cockroaches) but I was scared when this sound came on:

There is a fire! There is a fire!
Please evacuate as soon as possible.

And also to remind everyone how to properly recycle batteries,
like the message found in the video below made by Call2Recycle. This is so important because it is sometimes hard to figure out how to dispose of batteries properly. Many batteries are found in burnable trash, which is a big no-no.

Check out your country’s guidelines on how to check on how to recycle batteries. Here in Japan, we have a special bag and procedure for garbage like batteries.

Because it is National Battery Day, why don’t we celebrate with a battery-themed song? I searched Spotify for one and found this gem:

Are you crazy, aisasami? This is Metallica! I am going to get dizzy from all those insane metal guitars! By the way, aren’t you more of a pop princess? Why metal?

I have a secret to tell you: I love metal. People think I like bubblegum pop like Britney Spears and Mandy Moore. But, I love a lot of genres. I am a chameleon when it comes to music. I love metal. I liked it since high school when it was a craze with my goth friends. I even went to Ozzfest, but that was because my brother won tickets to see it at his drum studio. I did enjoy it though!

I think I liked metal when I was a kid because my favorite show in the 90s, Power Rangers, would feature a lot of songs that were inspired by metal. It just full of high energy and love the metal guitar that carries a lot of emotions. Those fantastic guitar solos in “Battery” is full of talent too!

“Battery” is from Metallica’s 1986 album Master of Puppets. I am not a BIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIG Metallica fan, but I do appreciate their music. My favorite song is “One”, which celebrated its 30th birthday last month, as it is a beautiful song.

Enjoy National Battery Day with this Metallica! I hope it jumpstarts your day!

  1. Amy,

I’m so happy you decided to borrow my 4M theme for today’s mewsic post. I added you to your URL to our linky party. I hope you don’t mind. 🙂 I’m not a huge Metallica fan like you but I do appreciate some of their mewsic. Many of the old metal bands at least had singers who could sing, unlike today’s said talent which becomes clear that they are well below average when they perform live. ‘Battery’ I came across in my mewsic research but veered from it because I was certain someone would pick it and I was right. Thanks for sharing the dance floor with me, my friend. Have a boogietastic week!

Thanks a lot! I scheduled this post during my workday and was too tired after work to put it up on your list. Thanks a lot! I am going to check the rest of last week’s list today.

  2. I also came close to picking Metallica’s “Battery” (my husband and son both love the group) but I decided to go in a slightly different direction. I never would have known about National Battery Day but – those talking smoke alarms are actually a very good idea. I just would hope mine speaks English. Have a great week!

  3. I like the Japanese fire alarm, especially when I consider the fire alarm I’m used to, i.e. a very loud buzzer that keeps screaming until someone shuts it off. Used to scare me half out of my skin even when I knerw it was coming.

Good choices for the theme! You’ve been a welcome addition!
